With the changing humanitarian environment and the depletion of natural resources, "Sustainable development" is increasingly becoming the global solution to the problems of the 21st century. "Sustainable design " is a strategic design practice for the structuring and development of sustainable solutions, taking into account economic, environmental, ethical and social issues in a balanced manner, in order to design to guide and satisfy consumer needs and to maintain their sustainable needs. The concept of sustainability involves not only environmental and resource sustainability, but also social and cultural sustainability. 随着人文环境的变化和自然资源的耗竭, “可持续发展”日益成为21世纪的全球问题解决方案。“可持续设计”是一种构建及开发可持续解决方案的策略设计活动，均衡考虑经济、环境、道德和社会问题，以设计引导和满足消费需求，并维持需求的持续满足。可持续的概念不仅包括环境与资源的可持续，也包括社会、文化的可持续。
The Sustainable Design (Materials) Museum focuses on the global environmental crisis, economic activity, depletion of natural resources, damage to ecosystems and loss of biodiversity that Sustainable Design addresses, seeking continuous improvement through knowledge sharing,
upholding the rights of humanity and nature, and recognizing the interdependence of the world in healthy, diverse and sustainable conditions. The practice of sustainable design attempts to address nature and people in contemporary civilization - "those natural resources and working individuals who are taken for granted and eventually abandoned".
可持续设计（材料）博物馆主要是针对“可持续设计”所面向的全球环境危机，经济活动，自然资源枯竭，生态系统受损以及生物多样性丧失，通过分享知识寻求持续改进，坚持人性与自然的权利，在健康、多元和可持续的条件下，认识到世界的相互依存。并对可持续设计模式的贯彻践行，试图关照当代文明中的自然与人——“那些被一味索取，最终被遗弃的自然资源与劳动个体”。
