MR KOMBUCHA’S LAB

Designer:XUEWEI ZHAO 赵雪薇

Born in Qingdao, Shandong. Graduated from Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2020 with a master's degree, majoring in product design. After graduation, he worked in beijing university of chemical technology as a professional teacher of industrial design. Now, he is majoring in design at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, majoring in sustainable comprehensive design. Black Tea Jun's Laboratory is a graduate design work of master's degree students, and it is also an attempt by her to shift the research focus to sustainable design from the perspective of materials. This work also won the Outstanding Graduation Design Award for Postgraduates of Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2020.

材料创新是应对环境问题永不过时的解决方案。从天然生物材料代替传统材料切入,试图改变新材料研发只能在实验室进行的局面。当材料的使用者即是开发者时,或许新材料的研发与应用就可以形成良好的衔接。通过对比筛选,确定一种名为红茶菌的生物材料作为研究对象,从材料实验到材料应用均获得了丰富的成果,项目将这些成果整合,发布在“红茶君的实验室”中,希望带给有兴趣的人以启发,发挥群智的作用,以公众参与助力红茶菌的应用研究,使红茶菌流行起来!

Material innovation is a timeless solution to environmental issues.

 

This work started with how can natural bio-materials instead of traditional materials, and in an effort to change the current state that the research and development of new materials can only be carried out in the laboratory. Provided that the users of materials are developers, it is likely that the development of new materials will be smoothly joined with applications. With an elaborate selection, I settled on a biological material named SCOBY as the research object and obtained considerable findings from material experiments and material applications.

 I then sorted out these findings and published them in "Mr. Kombucha's Lab", in an effort to inspire people who are interested, to activate the role of collective wisdom, and to promote public efforts in the application research of kombucha, thereby increasing its popularity.
